Getting there:
The French Retreat is about an hour from Bordeaux, France.
The address is:
La Loge, Yviers, Charente
16210 France
There are a number of ways to arrive at the French Retreat.
Flying is probably the quickest. If driving, give it a few days and make it a sightseeing holiday. Sometimes, other participants want to share the ride. Let me know if that's the case.
Taking the train is probably a very relaxing way to do it. You would need to head to the nearest station, which is Chalais.
Whichever way you travel there, make sure you arrive on time for the first session, which is August 24th at 17:00.
The retreat ends after lunch on August 29th.
Flying:
The French Retreat is 75min from Bordeaux Merignac airport and 85 mins from Bergerac airport.
British Airways fly from Gatwick to Bordeaux daily.
EasyJet has irregular Bristol-Bordeaux, Luton-Bordeaux flights, and daily Gatwick-Bordeaux flights. RyanAir flies from Stanstead-Bergerac/Bordeaux.
Prices can be cheaper if you fly midweek and add a few days to your stay.
You can hire a car from Bordeaux Airport, or take the airport bus to Bordeaux St Jean train station and from there a train to Chalais where you can be picked up by Emma (by prior arrangement-extra cost). There is also an English airport transfer service to which costs 120Eur each way. Let us know if you would like this option so we can, if possible, arrange for you to share the taxi with other course participants.
Driving:
Head for the town of Chalais and from Chalais exit the town in the direction of Brossac on the D731 and take the 2nd left after you see the end of Chalais crossed out signs. The retreat is at the end of the track. For a location, map go to http://www.retreat.fr/#!contact_us/c3fg
Parking:
There is ample parking at the house.
